The Problem

Huntingdonshire District Council were seeking a Head of Housing Delivery to drive the timely delivery of new housing supply, lead a development programme of Council assets and implement the delivery of the Council’s Housing Strategy and related Annual Action Plan against the three overarching themes of:

  • New homes to meet the needs of Huntingdonshire now and in the future
  • Homes that enable people in Huntingdonshire to lead independent and healthy lives
  • Working in partnership to achieve shared objectives

The Solution

Having built a strong partnership with Huntingdonshire’s recruitment team over several months, their recruitment manager sought our assistance after being impressed by our ability to deliver on niche, technical roles in other areas of the council where their traditional suppliers had failed to meet expectations.

After engaging with the Corporate Director and senior housing leadership team we suggested that, given the seniority of the position, a retained solution was the best and most effective method of securing the highest calibre candidate for this vital role. Our specialist team were able to share their expertise of the local housing market, which enabled Huntingdonshire to construct a clearly defined role specification that was aligned with market expectations.

The Result

Our campaign was highly successful, allowing us to conduct a forensic search of the candidate market which resulted in four final stage interviews and a successful appointment within their desired salary bracket. The retained solution provided a strong platform for our team to deliver, as it meant we could search the full marketplace whilst simultaneously ensuring that Huntingdonshire’s brand was represented in a professional and impactful manner. This resulted in an exceptionally strong shortlist of fully engaged, relevant candidates, which led to them appointing quickly at the first time of asking.
