Are you a skilled network professional with hands-on experience in securing and managing complex edge networks? Our Client, a leader in innovative network solutions, is seeking a highly capable Secure Edge Network & NetCloud Administrator to join their team on a contract basis. This is an exciting opportunity to play a strategic role in delivering secure, efficient, and reliable network services across diverse operational environments.

Role Overview:

The addition of this role comes at a pivotal time, driven by the need to enhance network security and operational resilience. As a key member of their technical team, you will have the chance to influence the future of secure network deployment and management, contributing directly to critical mission objectives and operational success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Configure and maintain enterprise-grade CradlePoint R1900 devices, including setting up WAN failover, LTE/5G profiles, routing, DHCP, and DNS services.
  • Oversee NetCloud Manager to manage device groups, set up templates, handle firmware updates, and generate reports and alerts.
  • Develop and enforce firewall policies, including inbound/outbound rules, NAT, segmentation, and adherence to the principle of least privilege.
  • Design and implement VLAN segmentation strategies suited for multi-tenant or multi-mission environments.
  • Manage switch configurations, port profiles, trunking, STP protocols, and PoE where applicable.
  • Establish secure remote access protocols using VPNs and jump hosts, ensuring robust credential management and comprehensive audit trails.
  • Implement network monitoring and logging using SNMP, syslog, and NetCloud telemetry to facilitate real-time incident response and troubleshooting.
  • Create detailed network diagrams, logical and physical topologies, IP address plans, and configuration baselines.
  • Conduct configuration management, including backups, changes, rollback plans, and documentation updates.
  • Support specialised environments such as air-gapped or offline modes, managing local admin workflows and offline updates.
  • Validate network performance for edge compute workloads, analysing latency, throughput, and jitter, and document findings.
  • Assist in customer acceptance activities, including FAT/SAT checks, technical evidence documentation, and training handovers.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience configuring and managing CradlePoint R1900 devices and similar networking hardware.
  • Strong knowledge of NetCloud Manager or comparable network management platforms.
  • Solid understanding of firewall configuration, VLAN design, routing, switching, and network segmentation.
  • Familiarity with secure remote access implementation and network monitoring tools.
  • Experience with logging, incident management, and network troubleshooting.
  • Ability to produce detailed network diagrams, IP plans, and maintain thorough documentation.
  • Current Security Clearance (SC) is essential, ensuring the ability to work on sensitive government or defence-related projects.

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Prior experience working within secure or air-gapped environments.
  • Knowledge of automation tools or scripting for network management.
  • Familiarity with additional network equipment or cloud-based management platforms.
  • Certification such as Cisco CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent industry recognised qualifications.
