Panoramic Associates is currently working with a Local Authority partnership in the Southeast to appoint an experienced senior leader to head up a Public Protection service operating for a council. This is a key leadership post with responsibility for ensuring consistent standards, outcomes and service delivery across a broad portfolio including Environmental Health, Trading Standards, Licensing and Civil Contingencies.
Responsibilities of the Role:
- Lead the shared Public Protection service across multiple council areas, managing variations in local service scope while maintaining consistent standards and outcomes.
- Provide strategic advice to senior officers, elected members and corporate leadership on all areas within the portfolio.
- Act as the principal advisor on specialist public protection functions, offering clear guidance and assurance.
- Contribute to delivery of wider council strategy, vision and values, including leading service-level policy/strategy development where appropriate.
- Provide effective leadership and management of the service with direct and indirect reports.
- Lead and deliver organisational change programmes, including new structures, systems and ways of working.
To be successful in the role you will have:
- Proven track record of successful leadership in a directly related public protection / regulatory service environment.
- Local Authortiy experience.
