Interim Payroll / HRIS Specialist (iTrent)
3-month contract | Fully remote available
A large and growing multi-site organisation is seeking an experienced Payroll / HRIS Specialist to support its central team following a recent iTrent implementation and organisational growth.
This is a hands-on, user-facing role, ideal for someone who combines strong technical iTrent knowledge with the ability to support and guide end users in a practical, accessible way.
The role
You will act as a key point of contact for payroll and HRIS queries across multiple sites, supporting local teams with day-to-day use of iTrent and helping ensure payroll accuracy and data quality.
This is not a processing-only role. You will be supporting, coaching and enabling users across a decentralised environment.
Key responsibilities
- Provide first-line support for iTrent and payroll queries across multiple sites
- Support local teams with system usage and processes
- Guide users through scenarios such as maternity, contract changes and payroll inputs
- Run and review exception reports alongside the systems administrator
- Identify and resolve data quality issues, including pension scheme discrepancies such as LGPS vs TPS
- Ensure payroll accuracy across multiple inputs
- Support and upskill users in a clear, approachable manner
About you
- Strong hands-on iTrent experience is essential
- Solid background in payroll and HR systems
- Experience supporting end users, not just processing payroll
- Confident communicator, able to explain complex processes clearly
- Experience with data validation, reporting and quality assurance
Desirable
- Experience within the education sector
- Understanding of term-time only contracts
- Experience in public sector or multi-site environments
Working pattern
- Ideally 5 days per week, minimum 4 days considered
- Must be available to work Tuesdays and Fridays if working 4 days
Location
- On-site working would be ideal but hybrid could be availble for right candidate
- This role can be delivered 100% remotely for the right candidate
