Job Summary:
The Interim Management Accountant will collaborate with the Finance Officer and Head of Finance to provide comprehensive management accounting services across a academies within the multi-academy trust. This role involves overseeing the general ledger, preparing financial statements, and conducting budget analyses. The successful candidate will ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to support the trust’s financial health and strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the academies within the trust.
- Conduct detailed analysis of budgets and variances to provide insights and recommendations.
- Ensure accurate and timely journal preparation and entries.
- General Ledger Management:
- Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded accurately.
- Reconcile accounts to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial records.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and accounting standards.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist in the preparation and review of annual budgets for the academies.
- Monitor and report on budget performance, identifying areas for improvement and cost savings.
- Support the Head of Finance in the development of financial forecasts.
- Sector-Specific Knowledge:
- Ideally, bring experience in the education sector, public sector, or charity accounting to provide relevant insights and best practices.
- Understand the specific financial challenges and opportunities within the education sector.
Qualifications:
- Education: Ideally fully qualified accounancy qualification. Candidates with extensive relevant experience will be considered even if they are not fully qualified.
- Experience:
- Proven experience in management accounting.
- Experience in the education sector, public sector, or charity accounting is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting software and financial reporting tools.
- Advanced Excel skills.
