Interim Finance Manager (Multi-Academy Trust)
3-month contract
Buckinghamshire (Hybrid)
A Buckinghamshire-based Multi-Academy Trust is seeking an Interim Finance Manager to provide hands-on support across core finance operations and reporting for an initial 3-month assignment. This is a great opportunity for an experienced school/MAT finance professional to step into a fast-paced environment, bring stability, and help keep the finance function running smoothly.
The assignment
You’ll work closely with the Trust’s senior leadership and finance team to ensure robust day-to-day finance delivery, accurate reporting, and strong financial controls across the MAT.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee and support day-to-day finance operations (purchase ledger, sales ledger, banking, reconciliations)
- Manage month-end processes and production of timely management information
- Support budget monitoring, forecasting and variance analysis across schools
- Ensure compliance with MAT financial procedures and internal controls
- Liaise with internal stakeholders (school business leaders, headteachers, central teams) to resolve finance queries
- Support preparation for audit and any reporting requirements (as needed)
- Help identify process improvements and implement practical fixes quickly
Essential experience
- Proven Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) finance experience (essential)
- Strong understanding of education finance processes and reporting requirements
- Confident producing management information and working to deadlines
- Ability to quickly assess priorities, pick up existing systems/processes, and operate with minimal supervision
Desirable
- Access system experience (highly desirable)
- Immediately available (or short notice)
