Norfolk
Norfolk is a diverse county with a mix of rural communities, market towns, coastal areas and urban centres. There is significant variation in health outcomes across communities, creating real opportunity for a Consultant in Public Health to make a measurable impact through evidence-led strategy, system leadership and targeted prevention work.
Working within a local authority context, this role offers the chance to influence population health at scale, build strong partnerships across the local system and help reduce inequalities across Norfolk.

The Role
Reporting professionally and managerially to the Director of Public Health, this is a strategic Consultant appointment aligned to the Faculty of Public Health Consultant framework.
Key responsibilities (portfolio-dependent) will include:

  • Providing strategic leadership across elements of health protection, health improvement and/or health services
  • Holding a locality relationship within Norfolk, working closely with key partners and stakeholders
  • Supporting and contributing to the understanding of population health needs to inform priorities and delivery
  • Using data, evidence and evaluation to shape and improve public health programmes and outcomes
  • Preparing and presenting high-quality reports, briefings and recommendations for senior leaders and wider audiences
  • Working collaboratively across the local system (including NHS partners, local authority services and wider stakeholders)
  • Supporting public health research, audit and continuous improvement activity
  • Managerial responsibility to be agreed depending on the final portfolio

Requirements

  • Appropriate specialist registration consistent with Consultant-level appointment (e.g., GMC Specialist Register / UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) for Public Health Specialists, or equivalent depending on background)
  • A passion for tackling health inequalities and a commitment to improving population health outcomes
  • Proven ability to develop and implement public health strategy and translate evidence into practical delivery
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with credibility in complex multi-agency environments

The above bullet points are not exhaustive, and you can find out more in the candidate pack.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious public health professional looking to take the next step in their career, with real scope to shape strategy, influence systems and lead impactful portfolios within Norfolk.
