Job Title: Interim Service Manager for Children’s Commissioning
Responsible to: Strategic Lead Adults and Children’s Commissioning and Procurement
Contract: 6 months, 5 days per week
Panoramic Associates are recruiting for an Interim Service Manager – Childrens Commissioning is responsible for delivering the commissioning role with a primary focus on children’s services, while also contributing to broader adults, housing, and health services.
Reporting to the Strategic Lead Adults and Children’s Commissioning and Procurement, the role involves supporting the commissioning team in implementing innovative approaches to community and service responses, emphasising partnership working and co-production within a learning model.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead Commissioning Role: Take the lead on commissioning responsibilities for children’s services, while contributing to the commissioning of adults, housing, and health services. Ensure a balanced and comprehensive approach to commissioning across all relevant areas.
Support Strategic Lead: Assist the Strategic Lead Adults and Children’s Commissioning and Procurement in executing the functions of the commissioning team. Contribute to the development and implementation of innovative strategies that enhance community and service responses.
Line Management: Manage a team of commissioning managers, providing leadership and guidance. Ensure commissioning plans are effectively delivered, and utilise various monitoring techniques to oversee contracted services.
Statutory Compliance: Ensure that all commissioned services comply with statutory duties, especially those outlined in Children’s and Adult legislation, along with other relevant legal requirements.
All-Age Approach: Facilitate an all-age approach to commissioning where applicable, ensuring that strategies and plans consider the needs and requirements of individuals across different age groups.
Partnership Working: Foster collaboration and partnership working with relevant stakeholders, both internal and external, to promote effective commissioning and service delivery.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven experience in commissioning roles, preferably with a focus on both children’s and adults’ services.
- Strong understanding of relevant legislation, especially in the areas of Children’s and Adult services.
- Leadership and line management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate effective partnership working.
- Ability to analyse and utilise various monitoring techniques for effective contract management.
- Knowledge of innovative approaches to community and service responses.
