Panoramic Associates are supporting a Local Authority client in the South of England with an Interim Service Accountant for an initial six months (potentially scope to go on for 12 months!) and on a full-time basis. You will need to be able to come into the office twice a week. Ideally you get started within the next couple of weeks!
It’s essential that you are fully qualified as an accountant for this role.
There is an attractive daily rate on offer for this position, which is inside IR35.
Role:
- Co-ordinate both the revenue and capital budget preparation, budget monitoring and closure of accounts
- Forge an excellent working relationship with the service directorate and support the budget manager when required
- Lead and participate in improvement projects or matrix management projects as directed as part of the council’s transformation and improvement agenda
- Produce or assist in producing financial advice and support to elected Members, Corporate Directors, senior managers, budget managers etc
- Coordinate the detailed revenue and capital budget preparation for the relevant service in line with the corporate timetable and process
Requirements:
- CCAB fully qualified accountant
- Local Authority experience as a Service/Management Accountant
- Subject Matter expertise in ASC is ideal but not essential
- Proactive, “hands on” individual
- Experience of being responsible for producing quality and timely information and reports for senior managers
- Experience of the annual budget setting process within a local authority
- Experience of monitoring significant capital and revenue budgets in a local authority
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills, including the ability to complete financial analysis and present findings in an accurate and concise manner – particularly within excel
