Financial Accountant (Public Sector) – FTC
Contract: Fixed-Term Contract until 2028
Location: Warwick
Hours: 37 hours per week (full-time; part-time considered)
Salary: £40,000 – £50,000
A public sector organisation is recruiting a Financial Accountant to support a busy finance team during a period of transformation, including work linked to Local Government Reorganisation. This is a hands-on role for someone with strong treasury management and systems accounting capability, able to maintain robust controls, support stakeholders, and keep reporting moving at pace.
Key responsibilities
- Support finance workstreams linked to Local Government Reorganisation and wider transformation activity
- Lead day-to-day treasury management activity, supporting cashflow and treasury processes
- Own systems accounting, maintaining financial systems and interfaces and ensuring data integrity
- Manage and maintain the chart of accounts, including updates, governance and coding structures
- Contribute to financial reporting and planning, including year-end support and stakeholder reporting
Key requirements
- Part-qualified (CIPFA/CIMA/ACCA) or qualified accountant (qualified candidates welcomed)
- Strong experience in treasury and financial systems/systems accounting
- Advanced Excel and confident use of Microsoft Office
- Excellent organisation skills and the ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities
- Clear communicator who can work collaboratively across finance and service areas
