JOB ROLE: Assistant Headteacher – Secondary Phase
LOCATION: Surrey
CONTRACT LENGTH: 1 year fixed-term contract
SALARY BANDING: Scale L11-L13
Panoramic Associates is currently working with a Special Education School based in Surrey to support the appointment of an Assistant Headteacher on a 1 year fixed-term contract.
This is a key leadership role within a specialist setting catering for pupils aged 3-19 with autism and a range of learning difficulties. The successful candidate will take responsibility for the secondary phase of the school and will work as part of the Senior Leadership Team, supporting the strategic and operational development of the school during a period of growth.
Responsibilities of the Role:
- Lead the secondary phase, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning and effective regulation strategies
- Support whole-school improvement planning, curriculum delivery, and staff development.
- Oversee EHCP processes and ensure they are meaningful, personalised, and effectively implemented.
- Work collaboratively with the SLT to raise outcomes for pupils with complex needs.
- Line manage teaching staff and contribute to a whole-school CPD programme.
To be successful in the role you will have:
- Previous experience as part of a Senior Leadership Team in a special school or SEN setting.
- Strong background in working with pupils with autism, learning disabilities, and SLD, specifically in secondary education.
- In-depth knowledge of EHCPs, curriculum planning, and inclusive teaching strategies
- A confident and collaborative leadership style with the ability to support and inspire others

This is an initial 1 year fixed term contract , paid on the Leadership Scale L11-L13, and requires full-time, on-site presence (5 days per week).
