The council’s Public Health Directorate is supported by a ring-fenced public health grant of more than £55 million, enabling the commissioning of high-quality services, action on the wider determinants of health, and a sustained focus on reducing health inequalities. The public health service is large, well-established and well-resourced, with a senior leadership team comprising the Director of Public Health, two Deputy Directors of Public Health, two Assistant Directors and a team of experienced Consultants in Public Health.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This permanent Consultant in Public Health post will support the Director of Public Health in delivering Norfolk County Council’s statutory public health responsibilities and wider ambitions to improve health outcomes and reduce inequalities.
The successful candidate will provide strategic public health leadership across organisational boundaries, working closely with senior colleagues across the council, NHS, Integrated Care Board, district councils, voluntary and community sector organisations, and other partners.
The role offers the opportunity to lead complex programmes of work, influence system-wide change, and contribute across the three domains of public health, with the specific portfolio shaped around the successful candidate’s experience and interests.
