The role
Working as part of a wider finance function, the successful candidate will provide financial support across a broad operational area. The role will focus on budgeting, forecasting, reporting, performance analysis, and advising stakeholders on financial matters to support effective decision-making.

Key responsibilities
- Support the preparation and management of budgets, forecasts, and financial plans
- Analyse financial information and provide clear insight to support decision-making
- Monitor financial performance, identify trends, and recommend actions where needed
- Provide financial guidance on projects, planning activity, and operational initiatives
- Contribute to accurate and timely financial reporting
- Build effective working relationships with key stakeholders, acting as a trusted financial advisor
- Translate financial information into clear and practical recommendations
- Support the review and improvement of financial processes
- Ensure compliance with relevant policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
Essential experience and skills
- Proven experience in a finance business partnering, financial planning, or management accounting role
- Previous finance experience within the education sector is essential
- Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and variance reporting
- Ability to interpret complex financial data and present it in a clear and meaningful way
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at different levels
- Well organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Relevant professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, or CIMA, or equivalent experience
Desirable experience
- Experience supporting multiple service areas, departments, or operational teams
- Knowledge of financial compliance and reporting requirements within an education setting
- Strong systems skills, including financial reporting tools
- Experience supporting process improvement or organisational change
