Chartered Building Surveyor
Location: Cambridge
Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum + £3,800 car allowance + benefits
Working pattern: Hybrid (minimum 3 days in the office)
About the Role
Our client, a well-established and highly regarded consultancy in the built environment, is looking to appoint an experienced Chartered Building Surveyor to join their growing Cambridge team. With a network of over 100 surveyors across the UK, the business offers a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment, working alongside Project Management and Building Services Engineering teams.

Your Opportunity
As a Chartered Building Surveyor, you will deliver a full spectrum of professional and project-related services across sectors including education, commercial office, retail, industrial, and residential.
You will play a key role in managing client relationships, delivering technical excellence, and supporting the wider business growth strategy. This role offers the autonomy to lead projects while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver a full range of Building Surveying services, including:
- Schedules of condition
- Dilapidations
- Contract administration
- Defect diagnosis and analysis
- Pre-acquisition and technical due diligence surveys
- Reinstatement Cost Assessments (RCAs)
- Act as lead consultant on multi-disciplinary projects, coordinating internal and external stakeholders
- Prepare clear, accurate, and high-quality technical reports, specifications, and documentation
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring delivery on time and within budget
- Build and maintain strong client relationships to support repeat business and long-term partnerships
- Represent the business professionally at client meetings and networking events
- Contribute to business development and the promotion of the company’s services
- Support and mentor junior surveyors, fostering professional development within the team
About You
- Chartered Member of the RICS (MRICS or FRICS)
- Proven experience in a Building Surveying role across multiple sectors
- Strong technical expertise in building pathology, construction technology, and contract administration
- Experience in design, specification writing, inspections, and regulatory compliance
- Ability to manage projects independently with strong commercial awareness
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail with the ability to produce clear, concise reports
- Proficient in relevant software including AutoCAD, NBS, and Microsoft Office
- Full UK driving licence
