Assistant Headteacher Alternative Provision
Location: East London | Salary: L6-10 | Permanent
We are working with a well-established alternative provision school in East London that is seeking an Assistant Headteacher to join their Senior Leadership Team. This is a high-impact leadership role supporting students who are not currently in mainstream education due to exclusion, challenging behaviour, or SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs.
About the Role
As Assistant Headteacher, you will:
- Support strategic leadership alongside the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team to drive school improvement.
- Lead and inspire teaching and pastoral teams, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning, and behaviour.
- Take responsibility for whole-school areas of development, tailored to your experience.
- Deliver high-quality classroom teaching (minimum of 8 periods per week, subject to agreement).
- Monitor pupil progress and implement effective intervention strategies.
- Work across multiple campuses when required, with a base at the main site.
This role requires vision, determination, and creativity, along with excellent interpersonal and leadership skills to engage effectively with staff, students, and stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Senior leadership experience, ideally with responsibility for behaviour, inclusion, or whole-school improvement.
- A strong track record of impact in challenging or non-mainstream settings.
- Excellent communication, team leadership, and organisational skills.
- Commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of young people who need tailored educational opportunities.
Experience in alternative provision, SEMH, behaviour strategy, or similar settings is highly desirable.
