Transport Project Manager

Transport Project Manager

As the Transport Project Manager, you will be working with stakeholders across the council. As well as private sector organisations, consultants, Highways England and Bus operators. With their support, you will lead in the delivery of a successful bid for major highway and transport schemes.

The role holder will be assigned and lead strategic transportation projects and coordinate a range of planning, unblocking, risk management and coordination activities to ensure effective delivery which unlocks growth and development.

The successful candidate will be responsible for strategy liaison, development and feasibility in relation to the transport projects in order to contribute to the Governments key 'shared' priority areas relating to accessibility, safety, congestion and air pollution and to contribute and support economic, social and environmental objectives in the south west.

Requirements of this position include:

  • Proven ability to apply project management principles and techniques to a wide range of complex projects or programmes including financial management of projects.
  • Successful and consistent achievement in leading the delivery of transport planning and strategy, within a local authority or other organisation of comparable scope and complexity
  • Experience of leading pre-feasibility work, ranging from area-wide transport / economic and master planning to corridor investment strategies
  • Ability to establish and maintain highly effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders.
  • Significant experience of developing partnership working, building effective relationships and enhancing the reputation of the Council with stakeholders and partners which include communities, voluntary bodies, private sector and public sector.
