JOB ROLE: Fleet Transport Manager (Waste Management and Recycling)
LOCATION: East Midlands
CONTRACT LENGTH: 6 months (likely extension or temp to perm)
DAY RATE: £300 – £320 per day (IR35 TBD)
DAYS IN OFFICE REQUIRED: Hybrid working – 1-2 days per week / as and when needed.
Panoramic Associates is currently working with a Local Authority client based in the East Midlands to facilitate the appointment of a Transport Manager on an interim basis for a 6-month contract (with a likely extension) to sit within the council’s waste and recycling function.
Within this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operational performance of the waste and recycling fleet and ensure the vehicles are compliant with transport legislation.
Responsibilities of the Role:
- Take charge of fleet, vehicle, and workshop services, ensuring efficient maintenance and compliance with regulations.
- As the O Licence holder, your primary role is to navigate the regulatory landscape and provide essential support and guidance on O licensing matters.
- Managing the workshop is another integral aspect of your responsibilities. Beyond day-to-day operations, you play a pivotal role in scheduling vehicle maintenance.
- Ensure all aspects of operations are compliant and align with regulatory standards, reducing the risk of penalties and promoting a culture of adherence to industry norms.
- Responsible for the fleet management programme. Your role will involve making strategic decisions on vehicle acquisition, disposal, and overall fleet optimisation.
- In collaboration with the fleet manager, you will provide oversight to the team.
To be successful in the role, you will have:
- Proven experience in fleet and transport management.
- Transport Management CPC is essential as you will be the O’Licence holder.
- Strong knowledge of waste management operations.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- You will be from a transport/distribution management background.
- At least 1-2 years of relevant experience.
