Locum Childcare Lawyer

Minimum 9 month contract

North West - Hybrid or Fully Remote

£50+ per hour umbrella (Inside IR35)

Panoramic Associates have been instructed by local authrority in the North West to recruit an experienced Childcare lawyer to join their legal team on a minimum 9 month basis.

This is an excellent opportunity to secure a long contract which will run, as a minimum, until end March 2023.

The role will include child protection matters, fostering and adoption matters. Child protection matters will include pre-proceedings and care proceedings. Work covered by the organisation covers all aspects of child protection work in relation to Local Authority statutory duties.

Cases dealt with have included the following issues: Long Term Neglect, Factious Illness Syndrome, Genetics, Shaken Baby, Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Organised Sexual Abuse and cases involving Jurisdictional matters.

You will have excellent knowledge of public law and matters concerning the protection of children including the Children Act 1989 and the Adoption and Children Act 2002. You will conduct own advocacy in courts including the County and Family Proceedings Court jurisdiction.

This role is offered on a fully remote or hybrid basis.

Key Requirements:

  • A qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive, alternatively, non-qualified Lawyers with substantial relevant experience will also be considered
  • An excellent knowledge of Childcare law including Children Act /Adoption advocacy experience
  • Experience of managing your own caseload.
  • Experience in interpreting, understanding and explaining psychological, psychiatric and medical expert evidence

Our client is ideally looking for a candidate with previous experience of working within a Local Authority, however this is not essential.

They are ideally looking for someone on a full-time basis however, part-time applicants will also be considered.
