Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
– Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety policies.
– Offer strategic advice on health and safety matters to senior leadership.
– Lead risk management initiatives in collaboration with the Executive Director, Finance.
– Ensure adherence to all relevant health and safety laws and regulations.
– Conduct regular audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
– Maintain detailed records of incidents and compile necessary reports for leadership and regulatory bodies.
– Liaise with external agencies, including the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and local authorities.
– Create and deliver training programmes on health and safety best practices.
– Ensure all staff receive appropriate inductions and ongoing professional development.
– Serve as the primary contact for health and safety training needs across the Trust.
– Oversee the reporting and investigation of accidents and incidents.
– Collaborate with site managers to ensure safe working environments.
– Implement a Trust-wide health and safety monitoring system.
– Develop and test emergency response plans, including fire evacuation and lockdown procedures.
– Support schools in managing critical incidents and conducting post-incident reviews.
– Ensure all schools have adequate first aid provision and accident reporting procedures.
Skills and Experience Required:
– Proven experience in a senior health and safety role, ideally within an educational or multi-site environment.
– In-depth knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practices.
– Strong leadership and strategic planning skills.
– Excellent communication and training abilities.
– Experience in conducting audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
– Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
