Responsibilities of the Role:
* Provide strategic leadership across Environmental Health, Licensing, and Trading Standards services.
* Ensure statutory and regulatory responsibilities are met to a high standard.
* Lead, support, and develop service managers and teams to deliver effective, customer-focused services.
* Advise senior leadership, elected members, and stakeholders on regulatory matters, risks, and compliance.
* Drive service improvements, performance management, and modernisation initiatives.
* Manage budgets, resources, and service planning across a diverse portfolio.
* Build strong internal and external partnerships to support community safety and regulatory compliance.
To be successful in the role you will have:
* Senior management experience within a Local Authority regulatory/public protection environment.
* Expertise in Environmental Health, Licensing, and/or Trading Standards.
* Strong leadership and people-management capability within multidisciplinary teams.
* Excellent understanding of statutory duties, regulatory frameworks, and enforcement practices.
* Proven ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships, including members, partners, and external agencies.
* Experience leading service transformation or performance improvement programmes.
Next Steps
This role is an initial 6-month contract and offering £600 per day Inside IR35. You will be required to attend the office 2-3 days per week, with the remainder worked remotely.
