Panoramic Associates are working with Local authority to recruit a Locum Consultant in Public Health to start ASAP for 6 months. This role can be fulfilled remotely and will be 3-5 days per week, on a competitive daily rate basis.

The focus of the role will be Public Health, Health Care, Health Improvement and Health Protection if and when required.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert public health advice and leadership to support and inform an evidence-based approach within ethical frameworks for planning and developing high quality equitable services across primary, secondary, and social care, and across partners including voluntary organisations.
  • Develop and utilise information and intelligence systems to underpin public health action across disciplines and organisations, leading collation, and interpretation of relevant data.
  • Actively work to reduce inequalities.
  • Develop partnerships and influence all agencies to ensure the widest possible participation in improving health.
  • Provide public health advice and expertise.
  • Ensure that relevant local experience and expertise supports or drives national developments and vice versa.
  • Contribute to the training programmes for Public Health Specialist Trainees in Public Health.
  • The work will include working across NHS bodies and the Council, (the Council has a statutory duty to provide public health advice to CCGs and the Council's Health and Well Being Board has a coordinating role for the whole of the health and care system) and other partner agencies.

Essential criteria:

  • Must be GMC Registered or in process for Public Health Specialist/Consultant registration (Or be eligible for registration within six months of interview) or be included on the UK Public Health Register for public health specialists (Or be eligible for registration within six months of interview)
  • A strong background as a public health consultant working on communicable disease control in a wide variety of settings including out of hours on call.
  • A strong understanding of all key agencies involved with Health Protection

This is a fantastic opportunity you will work directly with the Director of Public Health as a Senior person within the Public Health team with responsibility for health protection.
